Game Night Games is a local board game and card game store in Salt Lake City. We carry hundreds of game titles including such classic Euro games as Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne and Puerto Rico. We also carry a great selection of historical games, games for children, puzzles, educational toys, role playing games, collectible card games, and more. In addition to our Salt Lake location, we also sell many of our games online directly through our website.
Game Night brings to life our concept of what a board game store can be--not just a place to build your game collection but also a place to have fun, meet friends and get the most from the games you buy (not to mention trying out new games before you buy). We have focused on bringing together a truly outstanding selection of Euro games in a retail space that's comfortable for both shopping and playing games.

Meet the GNG Staff::
Tim Hall - Owner
![]()
Tim's love of board gaming together with the experience of game nights at home with friends, inspired the creation of Game Night Games--a comfortable place for game lovers to expand their world of gaming through friendship and fun. With a love of history, he explored such American Heritage classics as Battle Cry and Dog Fight and then graduated into classic Avalon Hill and SPI history-based war games like Terrible Swift Sword and Squad Leader. His absolute favorite genre of games include “card-driven” war games such as Paths of Glory.
Mike Compton - Manager
![]()
Mike has always loved board games of all types, being heavily involved in chess while growing up. His first encounter with European-style board games was playing a completely German version of Ohne Furcht und Adel (Citadels). Since discovering euro-style games, Mike has become an amateur board game designer (having designed "The Heavens of Olympus" by Rio Grande Games) and is currently an active member of the Board Game Designers Guild of Utah. He is also a musician who plays guitar, improvisational piano, and he is a high school drumline instructor (currently working with Kearns High School).
Phil Kilcrease - Assistant Manager
![]()
Phil is an avid "Legend of the Five Rings" player and game designer extraordinaire. In addition to being involved in the Board Game Designers Guild of Utah, he is also the founder and current president of the Great Move board game club at the University of Utah.
Matt Tolman - Tournament Director
![]()
In addition to being our tournament director, Matt also enjoys playing wargames such as Axis & Allies.
Bill Borck - Grand Inquisitor of Games
![]()
Bill has been a customer and avid gamer at GNG for about 5 years. Within that time, he has played a large number of games in the store. He enjoys teaching and learning new games.
Chase Dickerson - Dungeon Master Extraordinaire
Chase enjoys playing a variety of Role Playing Games and is the head Dungeon Master for our Dungeons & Dragons meetups.
Brooklynn Lundberg
Brooklynn enjoys a wide variety of games but particularly enjoys theme driven games like Twilight Imperium and Battlestar Galactica.
Chris Keates
During the holidays Chris recalls many a night board gaming with his extended family, enjoying traditional card games like Hearts, Euchre and Wizard. Chris discovered Game Night Games in 2007 and, like Mike Compton, chose Citadels as his “gateway ” into the wide world of boardgames. Since then, Chris strives to maintain a sense of diversity in his boardgaming activities; he enjoys a strategy-heavy Euro-style game as much as a thematic American-style game, and even appreciates the occasional party game. Wargames still scare him, however. Chris also works as a business analyst, enjoys skiing and cycling, and will play/read/watch anything in the science fiction genre!
